Johannesburg Bowls Association Claims Golden Glory at Colts & Fillies 2025

Pretoria, Gauteng - A dazzling display of precision and passion unfolded at Meyers Park Bowls Club, as the Jacaranda District of Bowls Gauteng North hosted the 2025 Gauteng Colts & Fillies tournament. 

Amidst a palpable atmosphere of anticipation and camaraderie, the province's rising stars showcased their skills, vying for top honours and a chance to shine on a larger stage.

The conditions for the tournament were nothing short of perfect. The weather was a golden touch, with warm, gentle breezes and clear skies that made for an ideal day of competition. This was complemented by the meticulous care of the greens, where the riveting action of these up and coming bowlers played out. The surfaces were immaculate, allowing for true and consistent draw shots that rewarded precision and punished even the slightest mistake. Spectators were treated to an exhibition of high-level bowls, where every roll was a testament to the skill and dedication of the competitors.

After two days of intense competition, the Johannesburg Bowls Association (JBA) emerged as the ultimate champions, capturing the overall trophy and cementing their status as a powerhouse in the development of young talent. The JBA men's team also triumphed in their division, while the ladies' title went to the formidable team from the Ekurhuleni Bowls District.

Sanette Kritzinger, esteemed president of Bowls Gauteng, spoke passionately about the tournament's significance. "This competition is the gold standard for our up and coming bowlers," she said. "It's where we identify and nurture the future of our sport. The Colts and Fillies provides a crucial platform for our up-and-coming talent in each district to compete, learn, and grow. It's a key part of our strategy to ensure a shining future for bowls in Gauteng and beyond."
